My Favorite Color is the Rain

What’s your favorite color?

It is what it is

What I want it to be

One day it is blue

The next it may be green

So do not ask me

“What’s your favorite color”

But “What color is today?”

Today is pinks

And purples and reds

Snowflakes who rest

On beanie-clad heads

Today I am not sick

Nor am I weak or upset

I am not an extrovert

An introvert or in between

I am dirty and clean

Invisible yet seen

Do not ask what I like to do

What I am like

What I am hate

For I am the thundering rain

And the sunny skies

And the kisses goodbye

To your old friend who mourns

Those who are living

People are not maps

Pink pins for where you’ve been

Blue for where you yearn

String tied between points

I am not so easily defined

What is a personality?

But a set of things

Things that are desired

By what yourself admires

And taken into consideration

Molded like clay

I am what I am

Because of what I wanted to be

So do not ask what my favorite color is

It is what I want it to be

One day it is blue

The next it may be green
