Roots

Roots like a dandelion

Are fleeting and seasonal

Do not bloom in spring

Or fruit in harvest

Root yourself like an oak

And watch your growth all year

With strong trunk

Thick branches

Healthy leaves

You cannot be like a daisy

Dainty

Plucked to be dead

You can only be an oak

 

Seasons come and go

Yet growth is inevitable

You will soar

Higher

Gain another ring

A thicker skin

But beautiful nonetheless

No matter the struggle

No matter the pain

You are an oak

And you will forever

Grow

Grow

Grow

And I hope to forever

Sit and read

Beneath the wonderful shade

That you provide
